Bujukan

In the world of fine jewelry, some collections transcend trends to turn into iconic staples. Our Bujukan collection is one such masterwork, intertwining a narrative of artistry, emotion, and universal appeal. At its heart, Bujukan, a Balinese word, represents the art of seduction and persuasion, a concept rooted in strength, elegance, and subtlety.

In the words of Dominick Gabriel, co-founder and Chief Design Officer of Gabriel & Co.: "Bujukan is about exuding power without imposing it, much like the domes of cathedrals that inspire awe and reverence without overwhelming."

A Legacy of Love and Happiness

Founded over three decades ago by brothers Jack and Dominick Gabriel, Gabriel & Co. is driven by a shared mission to create jewelry that carries deep emotional significance to its wearer. "From the start, we made a decision not to sell pieces unless they were meant to be gifted to a loved one," Dominick recalls. "This philosophy shaped our approach to design, quality and customer service."

An engineer by training, Jack Gabriel brought a perfectionist’s eye to quality, while Dominick, the consummate dreamer, focused on crafting pieces that spark joy. "As a designer, my joy comes from making people happy," Dominick shares. "Much like a great chef creates the perfect dish based on individual preferences, I aim to design jewelry that resonates personally with each wearer."

The Birth of an Iconic Design

The idea for the Bujukan collection emerged from Dominick’s fascination with the sphere. "When I first moved into my new office, my wife gifted me a sculpture made of graduating spheres, and it symbolized joy for me," he explains. After observing these beautiful spheres that were “static but seemed as if they were in movement”, this striking sculpture became a source of inspiration as he worked on new designs.

The sphere as he describes it, is a shape with no beginning or end, a canvas for infinite interpretations. “It embodies not only infinity but also eternal love and individuality, serving as a reflection of the unique bonds we cherish and the personal stories we carry with us,” Dominick shares.

Simultaneously, Dominick was drawn to the beauty of Bali, its culture, and the Balinese art of persuasion or seduction known as Bujukan. "Persuasion or seduction is, in itself, a subtle art," he explains. "When my design ideas and thoughts merged into one glowing idea, the Bujukan Collection was born."

A delicate arc of gold spheres, a radiant mini-cluster of diamonds, a chain of perfect gold circles—this is how we’ve explored Bujukan.

The Art of Subtle Strength

The name Bujukan itself embodies its own essence. Derived from the concept of persuasion or seduction, it reflects a wise and refined approach to power. "A strong personality doesn’t need to impose its strength," Dominick explains. “Think of James Bond. The character is elegant, discreet, yet undeniably powerful. Bujukan embodies this balance of strength and subtlety."

This iconic collection invites its wearers to embark on a profound journey. Initially drawn to its aesthetic beauty, they fall in love with its delicate design, and finally build a deep emotional connection. “It’s similar to a relationship: you’re first attracted to the look, then the mind, and eventually, an enduring bond is created.”

Jewelry as Wearable Art

"Jewelry is wearable art, and everybody wants to express their individuality through it," Dominick remarks. Bujukan's has the ability to transform and appeal to a diverse audience, and this is where its versatility lies. "Whether it’s a young trendsetter or a seasoned connoisseur, the collection transcends age, gender, and era. Its appeal never really dies."

The Bujukan collection includes earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces in 14K yellow, white, and pink gold. The styles are accented with diamond clusters, reminiscent of the temptation for the unknown. Bracelets, in particular, have become a runaway success. Dominick attributes their popularity to the collection’s ability to adapt to various styles and personalities. "The sphere element in Bujukan allows consumers to express themselves. We’ve seen phenomenal growth, and the bracelets have become a staple in jewelry collections all over the United States."

A Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, we see Bujukan as a staple that continues to evolve while maintaining its core essence. "Whatever the future brings, some collections like Bujukan are eternal," Dominick asserts. "Its designs are so iconic, so versatile, that they will remain relevant for generations to come."

Bujukan is simply a celebration of life’s most meaningful moments. As Dominick Gabriel eloquently puts it, "At Gabriel & Co., our mission is to create jewelry that brings joy and strengthens bonds. Bujukan captures this spirit perfectly, offering designs that resonate with the heart and soul."
